Q Methodology

Q Methodology (Q) is a complete methodology dedicated at the study of human subjectivity. It involves technique (sorting), method (factor analysis), philosophy, ontology, and epistemology.  Q reveals and describes divergent views in a group as well as consensus. Q was created by William Stephenson (1902-1989) who possessed PhDs in physics (1926) and psychology (1929) and studied psychometrics with Charles Spearman, the creator of factor analysis.

Since 1985, the Q Methodology Conference has been hosted annually by institutions all over the world. The Conference is unique in that it provides a multidisciplinary forum for students and professionals to explore the latest research, applications, and developments surrounding the use of Q Methodology.

The Conference mobilizes hundreds of innovative researchers through an exciting and collaborative few days, featuring a wide array of keynotes, panels, discussions, and special events.

Participants leave the Conference with fresh perspectives on the role of Q Methodology in research and a strong connection with a network of like-minded colleagues.
